Four people were injured Friday in a series of snowmobile crashes in Soldiertown Township, Maine, according to the Maine Warden Service.
Authorities said a 15-year-old boy from Lancaster, Massachusetts, had been operating his snowmobile at about 11 a.m. on Interconnecting Trail Systems 85 and 86, when he collided with Michael Byram, 46, from Herman, Maine.

Authorities said several other riders who were with the teen and traveling behind him collided with trees trying to avoid the crash.
Two of those riders, Robert Buzak, 49, and his 14-year-old son, both of Ayer, Massachusetts, were hurt.
Buzak suffered minor injuries. His son sustained a broken shoulder and possible back injuries.

Two other riders who were able to avoid the crash were able to call 911 for help.
Due to their remote location, it took nearly 90 minutes for first responders and game wardens to arrive. By then, Byran had signs of hypothermia.
The injured riders were then all taken to Millinocket Hospital for treatment.

Authorities said speed appears to be a contributing factor in the initial crash and do not believe alcohol was involved. All the riders were wearing helmets.
